SBAC Member Andrea Trovato of RonTro Enterprises explains Business Challenges in a interview with The American Business Person. RonTro Enterprises, Inc. is a total metal fabrication job shop. They have been laser cutting and metal fabricating for 23 years, since 1989. They provide laser cutting services for both the industry and private business.
President Andrea Trovato of RonTro shares triumph, collapse and the current rebirth of the metal laser-cutting company which she and husband Ron built in 1999. Following a guilt-ridden scrutiny of her mistakes, Andrea has stopped blaming herself and knows that trouble stemmed from a global financial crisis. She switched her focus to hard work, building a good reputation, and smart business to rebuild the company and work which the Trovatos love. They have learned: secure partnership agreements and cut losses fast. They spend their time doing what they do well and hire experts for financial, legal, and markeating needs. The Small Business Contracts Act, an SBAC drafted bill, set a goal of 10% of all state procurement contracts to go to small business. This bill was signed into law last year by Gov. Quinn.
Currently, only 2% of state procurement contracts go to small business. The SBAC is committed to proving information on how to take advantage of the opportunities that are available for contracting with the government.The first step is to become certified.
The Women's Business Development Center is hosting a webinar about certification by one of their resident experts. Local, state and federal certifications will be covered, along with the private certification offered by the Women's Business Development Center.

The Sorry State of Successful Entrepreneurs
It’s hard to believe successful businesspeople can be sorry about anything, but they frequently are. From our personal experience, there’s even a case to be made that the more successful you are in business, the more likely you are to be sorry:
• For being late
• For not responding to e-mails or returning calls
• For missing critical deadlines
• For being months behind with bookkeeping
• For the need to reschedule a meeting or call
• For the inability to take on a new project because you’re overwhelmed with current work
This list doesn’t include what may be the sorriest states of all: being constantly late for dinner, missing that soccer game, piano recital, glee club solo, or your kids being kids.
Some entrepreneurs know enough to be sorry or at least say they’re sorry. Others are clueless and/or hold strange or unrealistic beliefs; like there’s always a tomorrow or that time will expand based upon need. These entrepreneurs typically don’t feel anyone can master tasks the way they can, so they pile the burden on their own shoulders and slowly sink under the weight. They don’t delegate—they inundate and unfortunately, can’t extricate from the mire they’ve created.
